FAQs

Why should I consider joining a group?

Group can be a valuable part of your healing journey. In group, you can hear different experiences, get feedback from others, grow together, and build community. Many people report that group was one of their favorite parts of their treatment. Groups help us feel like we are not alone. We can feel connected to others in our struggle, which builds hope, resilience, and felt safety. For many, group is your own personal crew of cheerleaders.

What kinds of groups do you offer?

Group days, times, topics, ages, and styles vary widely! Some groups are open, meaning you can jump in anytime. These groups tend to run longer and have people that enter and graduate at different times. It can be so enriching to see other people’s growth as you continue in your own journey! Other groups are closed, or have a specific start and end date. These are great when you have a specific topic to explore.

It is helpful to check back regularly on what groups we are offering. Topics may range from parenting, dealing with trauma, understanding a loved one’s experience, learning DBT skills, working through things through art or music, or overcoming a specific issue. Will my insurance cover group?

Groups are covered by Medicaid and CHP+ (a copay may apply for CHP+). Commercial insurance rarely covers group, but you should call your insurance plan to ask about your unique coverage for CPT code H2014. We value group so much, however, that we offer affordable rates for each group session! Groups tend to be around $10 per hour, although it is important to check for the specific group you are interested in. We believe in making group therapy as accessible as possible to our community.

I’m introverted, shy, awkward, or a little nervous to be here…

Group might be perfect for you! Some participants talk a lot, some talk a little. We think there is value in just hearing other people say “me too” about a shared struggle. We ask that cameras be on (for virtual groups), you arrive on time, and you get the most out of your own group experience. For some that means sharing, and for others that means listening. All ways of growing are welcome here!

How does confidentiality work?

We get it. You don’t want all of your personal business shared everywhere! Group can be rewarding but also vulnerable. All group members are asked to abide by a shared rule - what happens in group, stays in group. In extreme cases to keep people safe, your group leader may need to share your information. However, other group members should never be sharing what is talked about in group. We want to maintain this as a safe space for everyone. If you have concerns about confidentiality in group, please let your group leader know right away.

I identify as LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, differently abled, etc. Will I be supported in group?

We welcome and cherish diverse experiences in group. Our trained staff does their best to make sure group remains a safe space for all participants. All group members agree to some guidelines before starting and again in their first session to help everyone to feel comfortable. We will quickly address any issues that may arise in group. If you have any concerns, please reach out to your group leader as soon as possible.

women's support group, social skills group, mom's support group, how to make friends as an adult

This group is now ongoing by popular demand! Previously, we ran this group for 6 weeks. A small group of women were able to develop relationships together, strengthen their support network, work through relationship challenges, and develop social skills to make meaningful connections in a busy, transient world. We laughed, we cried, and now we are bringing this group back due to the overwhelming requests for it to continue!

We are built for connection and yet sometimes it seems so hard to make friends as an adult. Whether you are a mom or childless, married or single, feminine or masculine, working or at home, all female-identifying folks are welcome in this space. Give yourself the gift of self-care by spending an hour per week with some new gal pals. Together, you’ll gain support, develop strategies for making and keeping friends, and learn some new things about yourself. Reach out to us today to register!
