Tirsa Campos-Cruz

MSW Intern

(Western New Mexico University)

Tirsa has approximately 8 years of experience working in many fields, including maternal health education, child development classes, housing services, homelessness support, behavioral case management, and addressing social determinants of health for patients living with chronic medical conditions. After earning her Bachelor's in Social Work from New Mexico State University, she was given the opportunity to work in diverse settings, which further strengthened my passion for supporting and empowering others with compassion and care. These experiences inspire her to pursue a Master's in Social Work at Western New Mexico University because she is committed to continuing to make a meaningful difference in individuals' lives while expanding my professional skills and knowledge.

Tirsa understands the importance of respecting each individual's values and culture when creating goals. Collaborating closely with clients has given her the opportunity to learn from their experiences while ensuring to provide supportive and effective care tailored to their needs. Tirsa uses CBT, DBT, MI, and trauma-informed interventions to support adolescents and adults struggling with stress, parenting, relationships, mood, worry, accessing resources, and overcoming life’s challenges.

Tirsa has a passion for helping others through the challenges and situations they may be facing by ensuring they feel heard, valued, and supported. She strives to provide a safe and compassionate space where individuals feel comfortable expressing themselves without fear of judgment.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, she enjoys helping others in the community and volunteering at her church whenever possible. In her personal time, she enjoys being outdoors, exercising, hiking, and spending time at the lake with her family.
