Samantha “Sam” Tomlinson
(Masters Level Clinician)
Sam Tomlinson is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) based in Durango, CO, who works virtually with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity concerns, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Her approach is relational, collaborative, and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that people make sense in the context of their experiences. Sam is passionate about helping clients better understand patterns, reduce shame, and develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves.
Sam draws from CBT, DBT, TST, and ACT while incorporating somatic and nervous system-informed perspectives into her work. She strives to provide a culturally responsive and LGBTQIA+ affirming environment where clients feel understood, respected, and safe showing up as themselves. Above all, she values creating a space that feels human, affirming, and emotionally safe.
Prior to outpatient therapy work, Sam worked in community mental health and child welfare, experiences that shaped her understanding of trauma, systemic barriers, and the importance of meeting clients where they are. She completed her clinical training at the Fort Lewis College Counseling Center while earning her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her partner, two dogs, family, and friends, as well as reading, watching movies, and exploring the outdoors.
