Jennifer Heap

BSW Intern

(Metro State University)

Jennifer Heap is a student intern completing her Bachelor of Social Work at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she will graduate in May 2026. Jennifer’s journey into the field has been shaped by resilience and determination: she began as a teen mom, earning her GED while expecting her first child at 17 and working in the food service industry to support her young family. Over the years, she has balanced parenting three children with her professional and educational goals, recently completing her Associate’s Degree at John Wood Community College in Quincy, IL. She has plans to pursue a Master’s Degree and continue growing as a compassionate, effective provider for her clients.

Jennifer is passionate about working with adolescents, young adults, women, and LGBTQ+ clients, with a focus on building self-esteem, self-determination, and alignment with one’s own truth and values. Her approach is client-centered and collaborative, creating a space where each person feels safe to lead their own healing journey at a pace that feels right for them. She provides case management, supportive skill-building, case management, parent coaching, and group services to children, teens, and adults.

Outside of her work, Jennifer is someone who enjoys both sides of life — she loves getting outdoors, but she’s just as happy staying in and being lazy all day. She’s into baking, doing puzzles, blasting heavy metal, lifting weights, and eating all the best Mexican food she can find. Jennifer is also a proud mom and grandmother.
