Betty received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from American Military University and is currently working on her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand View University. She has over 5 years of experience working with incarcerated individuals promoting mindfulness work, resiliency, and reducing recidivism. Betty is bilingual in Spanish and English and is a U.S. veteran. She has experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideations, and PTSD.

Betty is a compassionate individual driven by an interest to influence the lives of others in a safe environment while promoting self-esteem and creating opportunities to enrich lives. Betty believes that a great therapy session happens when you and your therapist can exist in a space free of judgement, authenticity, and trust. She values a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach where individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors. She also enjoys providing DBT, TST, and MI services.

Betty is interested in direct client care such as individual and group therapy, conducting intake assessments, and performing crisis intervention. She has experience working with adolescents, adults, and children. Betty specializes in a humanistic approach that focuses on an empathy, focusing on a person's potential for self-growth and self-discovery, developing strengths, free will, and capacity for making their own choices. Betty is LGBTQIA+ affirming and inclusive.

Betty enjoys reading personal development and romance novels as well as board game nights with her friends. She is interested in learning another language and hang-gliding in the future. Betty hopes to continue to workout and live an active lifestyle while being outdoors often with her husband and children.
