Alyssa received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. During this time, she completed her psychology honors thesis surrounding the relationship between childhood trauma, substance use, and sleep disturbances among undergraduate students. Alyssa is now pursuing her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Kentucky, where she will graduate in May 2027. Alyssa has a professional background in working with individuals in behavioral health and individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She has experience working as a behavioral health specialist, where she supported individuals navigating emotional and behavioral challenges in structured settings.
Alyssa’s therapeutic approach is grounded in trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered practices. She believes in meeting individuals where they are and creating a safe, supportive environment that fosters trust, empowerment, and collaboration. Her style is warm, empathetic, and nonjudgmental, while also being intentional and goal-oriented. Alyssa values the importance of understanding each client’s unique lived-experiences and works to support resilience, emotional regulation, and overall well-being through compassionate and evidence-informed care.
Alyssa loves working with children, adolescents, and young adults who are navigating trauma, emotional challenges, and life transitions. She aims to provide services that support emotional regulation, coping skill development, and personal growth. Alyssa uses evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, TST, motivational interviewing, person-centered techniques, trauma-focused interventions, and mindfulness-based approaches. She is committed to expanding her clinical toolkit to best meet the diverse needs of the individuals she serves.
Outside of her professional work, Alyssa enjoys activities that promote balance and well-being. She values spending time with friends and family, painting, reading, being outside, and watching documentaries. Alyssa is also very competitive at mini golf.
